‘When Pomegranates Howl’ becomes Australian Oscar entry

‘When Pomegranates Howl’ is to present Australia’s Oscars entry.

Iran, Afghanistan, the Netherlands and Australia’s co-production ‘When Pomegranates Howl’ has been selected as Australia’s 2022 Oscars entry.

Directed by Iranian filmmaker Granaz Mousavi, the drama film will represent Australian cinema at the 94th Academy Awads and will run for the Best International Feature Film at the event.

‘When Pomegranates Howl’ is the story of a little boy named Hewad, who lives on the streets of Kabul following he loss of his father and brother. 9-year-old Hewad will start working as a cart pusher to support his family. He enjoys doing his job everyday travelling through the Afghanistan capital city.

He actually has a dream and that is becoming the star of cinema. This dream revives as he meets an Australian photographer.

Arafat Faiz, Elham Ayazi, Saeedeh Sadat, Fereshteh Alami, Madineh Niaz and Andrew Quilty are some of the cast members of the flick.

Iranian maestro, Hossein Alizadeh, has made the score for the movie.
